Advertising frugality
With the recession fast approaching, there has never been a better time to be frugal.
Obviously all the Hobart advertisers are cutting back, judging by the number of ads in the Tuesday Mercury (6 January 2009). Page after page without advertising!

Hi Whitey
Good to see you back for 2009. The first days (weeks?) of January are notoriously quiet in the public service, so good to see that you can fill in your days productively while waiting for all of your colleagues to return from holidays.
I was, however, concerned to notice you posting over the christmas break. Does DHHS do this sort of overtime? Or have you splurged on the unnecessary luxury of a computer and internet connection at home???
Cheers
The Pres
I had to drop in to work to pick out a few Christmas presents for the kids - a stapler, box of paper clips and a water cooler.
They thought Santa was wonderful this year.
No guinea pigs???
The Pres - do you think it wise to broadcast the fact that Whitey works for DHHS? That's my hard-earned tax money supporting his family Xmas gift giving.
Couldn't get any guinea pigs.
The next door neighbours have quite strong locks on the cage.
Hey anon - Whitey is a legend, a source of inspiration, and a role model to all us public servants! We should take great pride in extending frugality to all aspects of our lives!
Did you hear that Lara Giddings is putting guinea pig on the menu at the Royal??? I don't think that her recent trips overseas (extensive though they may have been) included South America, so her source of inspiration must have been our very own Whitey!!
